Mental health disorders are a serious threat to Veterans’ lives and well-being, with many issues remaining undiagnosed even after returning to civilian life. Without proper care and diagnosis, mental health disorders can be greatly exacerbated by combat stress and injuries, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, and other pressures. If the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs required mental health examinations pre-enrollment, Veterans could be supported both during and after their service.
