The proliferation of online learning has provided a tremendous advance in educational opportunities for Student Veterans. Due to the competing responsibilities of careers and family, online classes provide the flexibility that Veterans need to succeed in their education. However, as the law currently stands, those who choose online classes will only receive half of the total amount of housing allowance granted to in-person learners.
During lockdowns, many educational institutions moved to online learning and Student Veterans were face-to-face with this inequality. It’s time to stop penalizing online Veteran Students for choosing an option that allows them to continue caring for their families and pursue their careers.
