Letter of SupportThe Veterans Education Project (VEP) proudly supports the Senate introduction of the GI Bill Parity Act (S.649), led by Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) and co-sponsored by Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI). VEP has long championed this legislation, urging lawmakers to recognize the full scope of service performed by our National Guard and Reserve members. S.649 mirrors H.R. 1423, introduced in the House by Representative Mike Levin (CA-49), demonstrating strong bipartisan and bicameral support for this critical fix.
This critical bipartisan bill ensures that members of the Guard and Reserves receive fair and equal access to the Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits they have earned through uniformed service. Too often, National Guard members are denied GI Bill credit for time spent in uniform, even when serving alongside Active Duty troops. S.649 closes that gap by making sure every day in uniform counts.
